REVIEW: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling
THE STORY:
Albus Potter, son of Harry potter starts his wizarding adventure in Hogwarts. He befriends a boy named Scorpius Malfoy who is the son of Draco Malfoy. Albus is not in a good relationship with his dad. The only person he can trust is Scorpius. Albus was different than other potters, he was the first to be in the house of Slytherin. Albus finds out that a man named Cedric died partly because of Harry
Potter. Albus wants to help Cedric’s father, Amos, and bring Cedric back. Albus and Scorpius discovered a time-turner which would help with their quest. They were able to get this with the help of Delphi, Amos’s niece. The three of them set up a plan to get Cedric not do die. Albus and Scorpius caused a lot of trouble with time. They came back after trying to deal with Cedric, but he was still dead and to add on top everyone in the present was different. They were married to different people and so on. They had to go in and out a couple times but once a terrible event occurred. Scorpius went to a different world where everything was bad. Harry dead, Voldemort leader, everyone trembling, and even Scorpius was an evil prince. Scorpius got out and was saved but realized what happens if Harry dies. The boys later find out Delphi is evil and is Voldemort’s daughter and is trying to bring him back to create the terrible world. The boys get help to try to defeat her and make sure the terrible world never becomes a reality. Albus improves his relationship with his dad and realizes time is a tricky thing but everyone is better than ever. (284)
MY OPINION:
When I first started reading this book I honestly thought it wouldn’t be that great. The reason was because it was written in a script format and that seemed awkward to me. When I got into the main plot of the book, It was almost like I couldn’t stop reading. Though vocabulary was a bit sophisticated the context clues made it so the story was easy enough to understand. There were many great and funny plot twists which were very enjoyable. It was so detailed and descriptive for even the shortest of time periods. Every event in this book had an obstacle which made it even better. The book caused me to have the feeling of just wanting to read more and more. This Harry Potter book also showed some family relationships. This was cool to me because it shows how both parents and kids think of each other during hard times. I think this would help with a lot families for understanding each other and their problems. Overall this book was quite life educating, one of the best books I have read, and the most hooking story there is. I would definitely give this book a ten out of ten stars and recommend it to anyone above eighth grade. This story has been going on since adults were quite young, this is written by one of the best authors and would be enjoyed by anyone. (236)
